Faculty members are already registered with the library. There is no longer a need to annually register your Bulldog Card with the library. If you have issues gaining access to library resources, please contact the Circulation Desk at 301-860-3870.
BSU faculty Privileges at the Thurgood Marshall Library are as follows:
Loans - Faculty, staff and administrators are given a loan period of 180 days for books, and one week for videos, with no limit on the number of items that can be checked out.
Renewal - most items (excluding any item that has been recalled) can be renewed in person or online through the library catalog for two additional loan periods. Faculty members who need additional time at this point will need to contact Circulation staff.
Overdue/Lost Items - Patrons with Faculty status are not subject to late fines (THIS IS NOT TRUE FOR STAFF MEMBERS), although you may receive an overdue notice as a reminder. Once an item has been overdue for 40 days it is automatically marked as "Lost" by the system. If the item can not be located, the faculty member will be responsible for replacement costs.
Items from other libraries - Books can be requested from other schools through the USMAI catalog and delivered to the Thurgood Marshall Library for pickup. Depending on where the books are coming from this can take anywhere from 2 days to a week. Most of the schools in the USMAI Consortium will not send Audio/Visual materials by courier, but you can check them out in person at that institution with your registered Bowie Card. Items that are checked out at Bowie but owned by another library are subject to the borrowing policies of the owning institution.
