Rules & Regulations of Thurgood Marshall Library Study Rooms

Study Rooms

Thurgood Marshall Library has 16 individual study rooms on the 2nd floor of the library. Study rooms are open to all Bowie University students for three hours at a time on a first-come, first-served basis. These rooms cannot be reserved.

Study Room Rules

The following rules apply to all study rooms in Thurgood Marshall Library:

  • Eating and drinking is not permitted in the study rooms.
  • Audio devices without earphones are prohibited; Study rooms are not sound proof.
  • Do not cover or block door windows
  • Violations of these policies may result in the loss of study room privileges.
  • The library is not responsible for items left in or stolen from study rooms.

Study Room Times of Availability

Study rooms are available to all students Monday-Thursday from 8:00 am- 4:50p.m. and on Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30p.m. 

Can I use a Study Room?

Study rooms are available to all Bowie University students. Please make sure your Bulldog ID card is registered with the library.

To access a study room you must provide your Bulldog ID card and a state issued ID card. The Circulation staff will secure your ID's and return them to you once you return the access card.

When your time is up, you may be able to renew your access card for an additional 3 hours. Please return to the Circulation Desk for additional information.

Fines

Study rooms can be checked out for 3 hours at a time. If you bring the access card back late for any reason, you may incur the following fines:

  • 1 hour:  $5.00
  • 2 hours: $10.00
  • 3 hours: $15.00; Overdue fines will not exceed $15.00

After 3 hours, you will be charged a $50 access card replacement fee. The following fees must be paid before your projected graduation date.

**Students may be charged $20/day when study room access key is not returned**
