The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) best in children's books of fiction, information, poetry and pictures for all age levels (birth through age 14) that reflect and encourage children's interests in exemplary ways.

The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) publishes SB&F, an online global critical review journal devoted exclusively to print and nonprint materials in all of the sciences for all age groups (K-college, teaching and general audience).

Presented annually since 1967, the Boston Globe–Horn Book Awards reward excellence in children’s and young adult literature for Fiction, Nonfiction, and Picture Books.

National Council for the Social Studies established the Carter G. Woodson Book Awards for the most distinguished books appropriate for young readers that depict ethnicity in the United States. Award is intended to “encourage the writing, publishing, and dissemination of outstanding social studies books for young readers that treat topics related to ethnic minorities and race relations sensitively and accurately.”
