Finding Books in the Library

Search using BSU Discovery

First Floor

  • Course Reserves: Readings assigned by the Professor with 3 hours in library reading. Ask at the Circulation Desk. 
  • Leisure Reading:  New York Times, both nonfiction + fiction. 
  • Reference Collection: Encyclopedias, dictionaries, and handbooks.

Second Floor

  • General Stacks: Books you may take from the library, shelved in Alpha-numeric order. See Circulation Desk.
  • Curriculum Lab: Basic and supplementary educational material to support curriculum planning. Room 2210. 

How to Locate a Book by Reading a Call Number

The materials in the library are organized by the Library of Congress (LC) Classification System so that materials on similar subjects are shelved together. Each item is given a subject heading that corresponds to a call number which identifies the location of the item on a shelf. 

Items are arranged on the shelves from left to right, top to bottom, according to call numbers. Call numbers are read in this format:
