APA Citation Format for Movies/ DVDs/ Videos

If you watched the film in the movie theater, use Motion Picture in brackets. If you watched it on videocassette or DVD, indicate that medium in brackets instead of “Motion picture.” If the original release date and the date of the DVD or videocassette are different, add “Original release” and that date in parentheses at the end of the entry.

Format

Last Name, First Initial(s) (Producer), & Last Name, First Initial(s) (Director)(Year).

       Title of motion picture [Motion picture].OR [Videocassette]. OR [DVD]. Country of Origin: Studio.

Example

Winkler, I., & Chartoff, R. (Producers), & Scorsese, M. (Director). (2005). Raging Bull [Videocassette].

       United States: MGM. (Original release 1980).

Does the library have DVDs or films?

All Media items held at the Thurgood Marshall Library can be found at the Circulation Desk on the first floor of the library.  Come to the desk with the title or call number for the item you want and ask any Circulation staff member to retrieve it for you.  As with all library items, you must have a Bulldog ID Card to check out media. Undergraduate students can check films out for three days at a time.
