Why is theme important?:
If a story lacks theme, the reader might not be able to connect with it. The good thing about themes is that it can be applied in the real world despite the context used in the text. Theme is connected to the journey of the characters. It connects the character’s ideals and actions to the plot, which gives readers something to care about. Without a theme the story is just a series of events. Characters would have nothing to strive for which doesn't make for a good story. Most importantly, the theme connects the reader to the story. When the readers relate to the characters and their struggles they become invested in the outcome.
